The UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) will give a global boost to our efforts to improve our understanding of life in the ocean

"We must improve our scientific knowledge of the oceans, but to achieve the goals that have been established for the decade, we must also build a sense of ownership of the project across sectors and amongst the general public," said Siri G Carson, chair of the newly appointed National Committee.

The National Committee was launched earlier today and includes our very own director Tor Erik Standal.

"Atlanterhavsparken Aquarium is a proud communicator of life in the ocean. I see being chosen to sit on the National Committee as recognition of all the hard work that Atlanterhavsparken has put in over the past few years.

I hope that we can contribute with our experience and expertise, and that the UN Decade for the Seas will not just be a matter for politicians and academics. The whole people must be involved in order to achieve the goals that have been set, says Tor Erik Standal. This is where our experience and expertise in communicating life in the sea will come in handy.
