Paddy cod

Latin: Raniceps raninus
Size:
Up to 30 cm.
Levested:
Lives between rocks in rock crevices and between algae. Can be very difficult to observe. Usually in shallow water, but has been observed down to 100 meters.
Distribution:
Found from Biscay north to Finnmark. More scarce in the far north.
Food:
The species has a large mouth and eats most bottom-dwelling organisms, especially shore crabs, starfish and sea stars.

The fish is called a toadfish because it looks like a toad from the front, and from the side it looks like a big black tadpole.
