Solar eclipse on Atlanterhavsparken

We gather to experience the solar eclipse together with well-known communicators in astronomy and natural science.

We will start with exciting lectures in the café area, before moving outside to follow the spectacular celestial phenomenon. In parallel, there will be varied activities inside, with a drawing area, planetarium shows and the lab activity Hunting for micrometeorites.

Program for the day:

1700 - Doors open

1730 - Lecture in the café area from Ben David Norman from NTNU in Ålesund: Cosmos - a journey in time and space

1800 - Lecture in the café area with Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard: Spectacular celestial phenomena and great discoveries

1845 - We go out to Selbukta. Solar eclipse glasses are loaned at the exit from the café, and returned at the same place. The glasses protect against radiation that can damage the eyes, and allow you to look at the sun during the eclipse.

1900 - Solar eclipse. It will be at its peak at 7:52 p.m.

2100 - Atlanterhavsparken closes

Throughout the evening:

• Open cafe and shop
• Aquariums and exhibits available as usual
• Activities for children, young people and adults, including a drawing area in the café, planetarium and activities at Møre Havlab
• Dissemination and observation of the solar eclipse

Planetarium - a journey into space

• Location: Breisundet. Meeting point outside Breisundet
• Time: 16.30, 17.00, 17.30, 18.00, 18.30, 19.00, 20.00, 20.30
• There are separate tickets for each time slot. These can be collected from the ticket booth.

Hunting for micrometeorites

• Location: Møre Havlab. Meet in front of the Atlantic Tank
• Time: 16.45, 17.15, 17.45, 18.45, 19.15, 19.45, 20.30
• There are separate tickets for each time slot. These can be collected from the ticket booth.

The event is held in collaboration with NTNU Ålesund.
