Facts about mussels

Since mussels filter the water masses, they are exposed to contaminants such as heavy metals and algae poisoning. The Norwegian Food Safety Authority regularly takes samples to provide information on whether there is a risk associated with eating mussels in a particular area. The information is updated on the Food Portal's mussel alert.
