Summer: shallow water from the shore between rocks and algae and down to 20 meters. Winter: deeper water, down to 50 meters.
Distribution:
From Morocco and north along the west coast of the British Isles. Mediterranean Sea. Along the west coast of Sweden and north to Nord-Trøndelag.
Food:
Crustaceans, mussels and snails.
Bergnebben is known among fishermen as a keen bait thief.
